Kevin returned to FSCJ in September as the Director of Student Recruitment, beginning a second stint at the College. In his current role, Kevin provides leadership and administrative oversight of Collegewide student recruitment.
Not only is he an ardent champion of FSCJ, he’s also a graduate. After earning his Associate in Arts from Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ), he transferred to the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. Returning to Jacksonville after working as an enterprising city government reporter in Central Florida, Kevin continued his studies at the University of North Florida, where he received his Master of Public Administration. He followed that with additional graduate credentials in Enrollment Management at Capella University and Learning Design and Technology from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
During his more than two-decades
career in higher education, Kevin has interacted with diverse student
populations, directing college readiness initiatives for vulnerable
populations, overseeing admissions for international scholars, and
advising military-affiliated students and veterans. He has held
leadership assignments at Take Stock in Children (Duval), Kaplan Test
Prep and the University of Maryland Global Campus. He most recently
served as the Associate Director of 招生 at the College of
澳门新葡京 Maryland.
Kevin
credits his military training and service with undergirding his civilian
career. As a sophomore at FSCJ, he enlisted in the United States Air
Force (USAF), joining the Florida Air National Guard. Eventually earning
his commission through the Air National Guard’s Academy of Military
Science, he served with honor and distinction until his retirement from
the USAF. Kevin’s varied military assignments included aircraft
maintenance specialist, human relations officer and public affairs
officer. 凯文的工作导致扩大教育展和新的FSCJ课程提供在杰克逊维尔的澳门新葡京空军国民警卫队。
Kevin is guided by the Biblical principal, “To whom much is given, much is required,” and the USAF core value, “Service before Self.” While in Maryland, he volunteered with the United Service Organizations (USO) and National Cherry Blossom Festival. During his first turn at the College, the 地区校董会 recognized his community work by awarding him the outstanding community service honor. For nearly a decade, Kevin led the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Inc. education and scholarship committee. In that volunteer capacity, Kevin oversaw the organization’s annual Infinite Scholars College Fair, which attracts hundreds of students and families from Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. His leadership of the group’s scholarship program, highlighted by the annual Bernard V. Gregory Scholarship reception, resulted in scores of students receiving thousands of dollars in college financial assistance.
When not on the job, he relishes time spent with family, cycling and reading. Feel free to ask him about his cherished autographed copy of “All the President’s Men.”
我们每年至少对每个校区/中心进行一次聚焦。 聚光灯的提名可以直接提交给你的校园代表或任何官员。 了解更多关于APC的信息,请访问我们的网站http://blogs.fscj.edu/apcollaborative。
